OUR STORY
From Knowing Jesus to Walking with Him
I became a Christian around the age of 12. I believed in Jesus as my Savior. I knew I was forgiven of my sins, had eternal life, and was going to heaven because of what Jesus did for me on the cross.
But even though I knew Jesus, I didn’t know how to walk with Him. I didn’t have someone personally discipling me or helping me understand how to live as a new Christian. Over time, I learned the ways of the world and started searching for belonging in the wrong places.
“Even though I knew Jesus, I didn’t know how to walk with Him.”
That search led me into gang life, jail, drugs, and unhealthy relationships. But Jesus was not done with me. In 2016, during Super Bowl night, I cried out to Jesus and asked Him to deliver me from the things that had me in bondage.
“It showed me the power of real discipleship.”
I stopped using drugs and surrendered my life to Jesus. I began to realize that Jesus didn’t just save me so I could experience eternal life one day in heaven. He saved me so I could experience life with Him now.
I devoted myself to prayer, Scripture, and being part of a church community. That same year, God placed a calling on my heart to share Jesus with the world. I was amazed at what Jesus was doing in my life, and I believed that if He could do it with me, He could do it with anyone.
Because I wanted to grow, I enrolled in seminary and later graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biblical Studies in May 2025. But one of the biggest impacts in my life came through a man named Ed, who personally discipled me.
He walked with me, listened, taught, encouraged, and helped me grow in my walk with Jesus. That changed me deeply. In 2020, I started Shine Light Ministries through online content and Bible studies.
After a pause because of family and work, we began gathering as a house church in 2023. Now my heart is simple: I want to help believers walk with Jesus, experience authentic community, and grow as disciples who help others follow Him.
